Sandstone is a classic sedimentary rock that forms from the cementing together of sand sized grains forming a solid rock. In the UK, sandstone (usually referred to as Yorkstone) has been used over the centuries in houses and buildings of distinction. Sandstone is a very stable product and as such can be treated to provide several different uses other than natural stone flooring and is especially good as an architectural stone.
Devon Stone offers seven beautiful sandstone colours including the finest Yorkstone both newly cut and naturally aged (reclaimed). Sandstone can provide fossil content to give real depth and interest to any floor.
Various finishes to sandstone natural stone offer further depth and interest to the product, from a rustic riven top to a smooth contemporary product or even a weathered flagstone look. Furthermore the ability to stipulate random lengths (although always standard widths) of flagstones allow the finished area to shine with visual interest.
Sandstone flagstones offer an ideal material for creating flagstone patios and stepping stones. Sandstone can also be a luxurious indoor natural stone (expert installing, cutting and laying of sandstone for internal purposes is advised).
